Common Reading Program and Visiting Writers Series present an invited lecture and reading with poet and author Natalie Diaz

An online reading by Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and author Natalie Diaz is the Common Reading Invited Lecture event for 2021-22. Diaz received the coveted Pulitzer Prize for Original Verse in 2021 for her book Postcolonial Love Poem. One of her poems, “American Arithmetic,” is featured in this year’s Common Reading book, Tales of Two Americas. A Mojave and member of the Gila River Indian Community, Diaz is an associate professor at Arizona State University and was born in Needles, Calif. She earned her MFA in poetry and fiction, as well as her undergraduate degree, from Old Dominion University.

Co-sponsor of the reading is the Dept. of English’s Visiting Writer Series.
