Based in Pittsburgh, PA, Jasiri X is most known for his politically engaged lyrics and music videos discussing political candidates, urban poverty, and police violence. Jasiri uses Hip Hop to reach young people and raise social awareness. Well-known within activist circles, he has spoken and preformed around the country, including at the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Selma to Montgomery March in spring of 2015.
